As part of my practice, I investigate different forms of communication. I view communication in its broadest sense—exploring how mediums like weaving, crafts, storytelling, and community-building can substitute for traditional language. I explore these themes through various projects. Below is a selection of the work I have produced and organized.

Artist-to-Artist Residency | Dovre, Norway
Crafts in Residence is an initiative developed in collaboration with textile artist Isfrid Angard Siljehaug. The project consisted of an artist-to-artist residency in Dovre, Norway, organized in collaboration with the Hjerleid Cultural Center for Traditional Crafts. It was co-financed by a grant from the Norwegian county of Innlandet fylkeskommune.
I stayed and worked with Isfrid in her studio for six weeks during May and June of 2025. This period gave me the opportunity to deepen my knowledge of weaving as a language and to develop my working method for Newspaper Weavings. Through the provision of time, craftsmanship, equipment, and artistic exchange with Isfrid, I developed new work and gained insights into weaving on a larger-scale loom.

Community project based in Geuzenveld, Amsterdam.
The project brings together women of various ages and backgrounds through textile crafts such as weaving, knitting, crocheting, repair, and embroidery. The central focus of the project is the connection formed through the shared practice of craft, the exchange of knowledge, and social companionship. It provides a dedicated space for the local community to gather every other Tuesday.
As of 2026, the Bookstore Foundation has taken responsibility for the project, providing a space where these workshops can be initiated by the local community members themselves. Consequently, the workshops continue to take place at Pleinkamer, Lambertus Zijlplein 7, Geuzenveld.
I initiated this project alongside fellow artist Rosa Smits, in collaboration with the Bookstore Foundation, between 2024 and 2025. Following a highly successful pilot program—Weaving the Words—I wanted to establish a long-term community project that would endure beyond the timeframe of my previous projects.
Over the years, the project has been generously supported by the AFK (Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst), VSBfonds, Stichting Hella, and the local council of the Municipality of Amsterdam.

Exhibition and community project, I initiated and curated
Weaving the Words was an exhibition and community project that I initiated and curated at Pleinkamer Geuzenveld in Amsterdam. Through this project, I focused on alternative forms of communication, specifically exploring how textiles and woven cloth have historically—and within mythology—served as a means for women to express themselves.
I curated the exhibition at Pleinkamer featuring four female artists, including myself. The collection ranged from my own newspaper weaving and textile works by Rosa Smits and Isfrid Angand Siljehaug to a light installation by Femke Schaap; all pieces explored weaving as an alternative language.
In addition to the exhibition, fellow artist Rosa Smits and I developed a highly successful community initiative. We hosted bi-monthly workshops where the local community gathered to practice textile crafts and enjoy each other's company. This phase of the project served as the pilot for "Haak en Maak," which continues today under The Bookstore Foundation. This project was supported by the AFK, Stichting De Schepper Delft, Het Cultuurfonds and The Bookstore Foundation.
